August 2009
Further enhancements and improvements lead to the release of TOM V. 1.1. TOM undergoes one last major performance-check in which functionality, accuracy, and reliability are scrupulously tested. Green light is given for TOM's official release by its intellectual "father", Mr. Christian Pfundtner.
June 2009
Beta-testing is successfully completed and TOM V. 1.0 is officially born. GNC management decides to release TOM first on the U.S. market. U.S. marketing professionals are given the task of preparing TOM for U.S. release. Through the assistance of Austrian web-design guru Mr. Gernot Glasl, TOM takes on the shape of a lovable little red-eyed SQL_helper. The website as well the official TOM documentation is authored and published.
Winter 2008/Spring 2009
The BETA version of TOM is made available to a selected group of GNC clients for beta-testing. The overall positive response reassures the management to continue with its decision to release TOM on the software market. Based upon customer feedback, minor design details are added and a few modifications take place. The work to improve TOM continues and modifications as well as new features are finalized.
Summer 2008
GNC's proprietary "invention" still serves as an "in-house tool" that is only used in solving the performance problems of GNC clients. GNC becomes the first company in the world of having been awarded the prestigious 5 star Performnet accreditation for best hotline- and support-service company. The idea to release GNC's "tool" on the software-market takes shape and GNC professionals begin working on releasing the BETA version of "TOM".
Spring 2007
While attempting to solve a highly complex equation for one of Europe's largest power-plant operators, GNC's Oracle masters begin developing a software-solution which will provide them insight into the cost based optimizer (CBO) like never before. The solution's primary purpose is to eliminate futile guess work (trial & error) and massively cut down on the time needed to get to the bottom of certain performance issues. The complex composition of the CBO is painstakingly disassembled and taken under scrupulous scrutiny. At first, results are taking shape slowly but they arrive with a level of certainty and reliability that promises a whole new approach to database management.
2003
GNC is one of Europe's first leading Oracle Solution Providers which offers both an educational as well as solution-driven platform for changing from the rule based optimizer to the cost based optimizer. The first footprints for TOM take shape.
